Dear Band family,

Whew!  First week of the new school year is behind us, and boy, how different!  The best part?  Seeing all my students again!  Here we go for a similar week at the 25% capacity.  The purpose of this email is to provide you with information shared last week at the Marching Band meeting (in case you missed it) as well as updates for the whole program.  Please continue to check the band website (www.bandofknights.com) for all the most up to date information and communication.  Students enrolled in band classes this semester, please make checking Canvas a regular routine… I will try to make sure everyone is in the know as best I can!  Band will look very different this semester, BUT that’s not always a bad thing!  We’ll continue to study and make music!

Marching Band Google Meeting video.  In case you were unable to attend, please watch this video.  Some highlights:

  1. Marching Band has been postponed until either November (parades) or January due to the state Athletic Association postponing football season until February.  We will offer at the minimum a pep band for students to perform at home games, and depending on how many of our members can do the spring version, we will do some marching.  Please be on the look out for information regarding marching band around late October.
  2. Starting in September, the band program will offer some after school activities for students.  These will include some Colorguard spin clinics (in preparation for Winterguard and dependent on interest and instructor availability, percussion ensemble (also dependent on interest and instructor availability), and Jazz Band (I will offer this opportunity for anyone to come and play!).  For the latter, our jazz band usually meets in the spring semester opposite of marching band, so I am just “flipping” it to the fall as marching band will now occur in the spring.  More information about each offering will be released in early September once I have clear direction from the administration on what I am allowed to do and not allowed to do... AND YES, all students are allowed to participate even if they are full remote or “tracked out” on rehearsal days.  Again, I will provide a clearer picture once I have it.
  3. Please contact our student account treasurer, Nancy DeAngelis (nlbb.treasurer@gmail.com) if you have questions or concerns regarding your student’s account.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Yay Band!

Mr. Still
