
The Marching Band is a highly visible, competitive ensemble that combines artistic performance with high expectations and student leadership. Each fall, members prepare a customized show, find success performing for large audiences across North Carolina and beyond.

These ensembles serve as the program’s foundation, where students hone their musicianship and technical skill. Students enrolled in academic classes prepare for winter and spring concerts as well as adjudicated performances in the spring. Many students also earn recognition for all-district and all-state bands.

Winter Winds extends the performance season into the spring, providing students with a competitive indoor ensemble focused on musical and visual excellence. The group refines performance skills through rehearsals and competitions, highlighted by a Silver Medal at the 2026 WGI World Championships.

The Varsity Winter Guard ensemble performs at the Scholastic A level, delivering polished, competitive productions that combine advanced dance, equipment work, and choreography in an indoor setting. This group represents the program’s top performers, focusing on precision, artistry, and competitive excellence. Students rehearse and perform from November to April, refining high-level performance skills while competing in regional circuits.

The Junior Varsity Winter Guard ensemble performs at the Scholastic AAA level, introducing students to the fundamentals of dance, equipment, and choreography in a supportive, team-oriented environment. This group emphasizes skill development, confidence-building, and performance readiness. Students rehearse and perform from November to April, gaining experience and growing as performers while competing in regional circuits.
