Dear band family,

Earlier today, Gov. Copper issued an executive order closing all NC public schools for two weeks (through the end of March). As I told the band classes yesterday, LCS will move to delivering instruction via online. NLHS faculty will be meeting Monday morning with Mr. Cathey to discuss how this will look. For now, I have two pieces of information to share with our band family:

1. I will be at the school Monday from 8am-3:30pm (normal hours) to prep online material and to allow band students the opportunity to come and get their instruments/music. All members of the Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band will NEED their music and instruments to complete online assignments (and get caught up on other Google Classroom assignments). Percussion and tuba students will need their practice pads and mouthpieces (I can send tubas home if you have a vehicle to come get them). CLEAN YOUR INSTRUMENTS and PRACTICE!!!! We will have basically one month to learn an entire concert cycle... read, set, GO!

2. Mr. Stokes and I will be communicating with our band staff regarding the remaining schedule of events for our program. Officially, Band-O-Rama and the three spring concerts (Jazz/percussion, MS, and HS) are still a go, but there will be some shuffling to the schedule. Once I have a completed schedule for the remainder of the year, I will send it out. Please keep checking email, the band's website and Facebook pages for updates. There will be a lot of adjustments but we'll get through it!

As stated earlier, we are looking at all possible scenarios for a reschedulement of our Disney Trip. Thank you for being patient and allowing me time to process! They don't teach you how to handle school closings in music school ?

I hope you and your family stay safe! More to come from me in the future!

Yay Band!
Mr. Still
