2020 Marching Band Registration and Information
Dear band family,
Thank you for being patient as I work through conversations with Mr. Cathey. At this time, we feel it is fine to move forward… I will communicate if anything changes.
It is with great excitement and anticipation that I release information for the 2020 edition of the award-winning North Lincoln Band of Knights Marching Band! Our marching band has been one of the most successful student groups since North Lincoln’s founding in 2003, and next year will be no different! I sincerely hope ALL of our returning students will join us again, and that we’ll have many new students to experience a season of hard work, amazing performances, and life-changing memories! DUE TO COVID-19 PANDEMIC, ALL MARCHING BAND SIGNUPS WILL BE ONLINE! Super important… I am very aware that many families have been affected financially by the pandemic. PLEASE do not let money be the reason to not participate in the marching band. The booster board and I have considered that in the new budget year for 2020-2021. REACH OUT TO ME IF MONEY WILL BE AN ISSUE… we will make it work for all students to participate. Our organization is strong financially because of sound budgeting, wise spending AND phenomenal parent support the last few years. We are prepared!

Paper packets are available and can be mailed if you need/prefer that method. In past years, the paper packets included medical, travel and uniform forms… we will collect those from members once registration closes in June. Do not worry about those for now.

A Few Notes:
1. After School rehearsal change: Our after school rehearsal schedule includes Mondays 4-6pm, Tuesdays 4-7pm and Thursdays 4-7pm. Unlike past years, we will keep Monday rehearsals throughout all of October. I feel this rehearsal schedule is best for our band program to continue to grow and thrive. The Monday rehearsal will end at 6pm while the other two rehearsals will end at 7pm. No rehearsal on Wednesdays as before.
2. Competition weekends: Plan for shows on Sept. 19, 26, Oct. 3, 10, 17, 24, and 31. We will most likely not perform on one of these dates. Once we have registered for shows, we will release a finalized schedule (closer to band camp). No Saturday commitments for Sept. 5 and 12 (the weekend of the 12th is fully open with no Friday commitment either).
3. You’ll notice the addition of the Martin Luther King Jr. Parade in January of 2021. NL will represent LCS in that parade this coming year. It is an amazing opportunity for our program to give back to our community and I take that responsibility very seriously. What a great moment that will be to grow as people!
4. If you are on the fence about marching band, GET OFF OF IT AND SIGN UP! Every student member is important to our ensemble and the band NEEDS you! If there are ever issues, contact me and we’ll have conversation. Our marching band is a special group of people and a family!
I am PUMPED for this upcoming season and band next year! Our middle school band enrollment increased next year for the third year in a row, and our high school bands are shaping up to be strong! Ready for an AWESOME YEAR for music making and life-long memories!
